Since my housemates in Colorado bought me out of my share of the house, I have been trying to figure out what I want to do about my housing situation. Though, 225 Hyde isn't too bad (for me, because the bums leave me alone because of my 'scary' appearance) I decided I wanted a change of scenery.
I was considering buying a condo somewhere in SF, but since I tend to be more transitory, owning property seems like it would be a bigger problem than a benefit. (Also, check out this article which analyzes lost opportunity cost.)
So, today I signed a lease on a very nice apartment in the "Tender Nob" and Van Ness areas. It is about 1200 sq. ft., and it is a 2-story loft flat on the 12th and 13th floors.

On the large photo of the whole building you should highlight the windows that will be yours.
